I agree this is the best site. The only problem is that I spend too much time reading stuff out to Mr Awake at last and he is lurking now and reading stuff to me.
Simon, you now need to start a site to help addicts of this site, like us.

this morning we opened our front door to find 5 magazines, 4 awakes and 1 watchtower left there.
someone must have been counselled about not placing enough literature.
we never heard them knock and we are not that deaf, at least we didn't think so.

i have just finished reading brock talons second book (see above).
well worth the read.
terribly honest and humbling to read.
I just finished reading both books on Kindle, the Paradise one last night. I'm going to get Mr Awake at last to read them now. They were both good in their own ways but most people will relate to the Paradise book more as most have not been to Bethel.
Thank you Brock for two good reads.

Mr Awake at last commented about how thin they were too. He is learning TTATT now too.
i haven't really got time to read the mags as keeping up with JW.com takes up all my reading time these days plus the Late Ray Franz books occupy much of my time too. I have also just finished reading two of Brock Talons books. So as you can see, I keep myself busy these days.
it has been a good 8 years away from my area, a good 10 years + since i was regularly at meetings.
a good 12 years since i was hesitantly active.. it is a slow process but it does happen.
i now feel no connection to the belief system beyond memories.
Snare & Racket, your name says it all. A famous WTBTS president once said " Religion is a snare and a racket." It takes the leader of such a snare and racket to recognise it. In fact he was the instigator of one policy in particular that you didn't mention, the blood issue.
Many other things I can think of that I don't miss are:
child abuse
disfellowshipping and shunning
rejection of anyone who can no longer do what they used to do
confusion over the blood issue
lack of compassion for mental illness
children being baptised and then later DFd
over use of chaperones for courting
unable to question anything or even express an opinion
justifying yourself to judicial committees
conditional friendships
And so on, and so on, and so on.
cut the cord.
sever all ties.
start new.. and she's right.
I felt he was something to do with Jugde Rutherford, there seemed to be a slight, only slight resemblance.
I don't think he ever wrote anything biblical or about his father.
I hope he had a reasonably happy life, as happy as he could be with JFR as his old man, and that Jehovah gives him some of the rewards that his father felt entitled to.
you don't have to know much to talk to jw's and show them they don't want to really discuss the matters.they consider a discussion on the matter they are pushing to be "confrontational.".

I agree with Blondie who said that they appeared not to have read the magazine they were highlighting. Big mistake. Why should someone else take it and read it if it is obvious the witness person hasn't read it?
Did they have Bibles there? I didn't notice any.
Counting time is all they were doing, end of story.
hey everyone, this is my first post.
i was contacted by the witnesses in1965, baptized in that same year at age 15. i was appointed an elder in 1975 and served as an elder for 20 years..
it hasnt been long since i learn ttatt and when i totally woke up.
Hi John and welcome to the forum.
If that's your first post, I can't wait for the second and subsequent posts. You're going to have to work really hard to top that.
One day I will tell the story of my baptism although it is not nearly as good as the fishnet stockings.
Anyway welcome again.
